Costa del Sol

Overview

Just where Andalusia meets the sea you will find the city of Málaga and its Costa del Sol, that shimmering coast warmed by the Andalusian sun and caressed by soft Mediterranean breezes.

Thanks to its 160 kilometres of coastline, the province of Málaga offers immensely varied beaches provided with countless facilities, and an exceptional climate which allows the visitor to enjoy them practically all year round.

The Costa del Sol is much more than sun and beaches, however. Its cultural heritage has Picasso as its main artistic reference.

The Costa del Sol is also an adventure sports paradise. Its natural beauty, along with its modern facilities, provides visitors with the perfect setting to face new challenges.

In fact, it is easy to feel well both indoors and out on the Costa del Sol thanks not just to the natural surroundings but also to centres devoted to providing complete health and beauty services.

When it comes to sports, however, golf is king on the famous “Golf Coast”, which, with its nearly 60 courses, has been enshrined as the golf capital of continental Europe.

The Costa del Sol also fulfills all the requisites for the all important Meetings and Incentives industry, with modern installations equipped with state-of-the-art technology along with more than 25 convention centres in its magnificent hotel infrastructure.

The Mediterranean offers so much to enjoy and the Málaga coastline has 11 leisure ports, including the world famous Puerto Banús in Marbella, providing a complete range of nautical experiences.

The port of Málaga is one of the most important on the Iberian Peninsula in terms of the number of cruise liners, with more than two hundred thousand cruise passengers per year.

Leisure

The Picasso Museum in Málaga and the painter’s Birth House Museum have brought this genius back to his native city. The historic old quarter of Málaga, for its part, preserves the imprint of more than 3,000 years of human settlement.

The Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba fortress, the Gibralfaro Castle and the Málaga Cathedral bear witness to this precious legacy.

Special mention should be made of two monumental cities, Ronda and Antequera, whose history and unique character inspire a magical quality hovering between reality and legend, as well as the picturesque White Villages scattered about the interior of the province.

In addition to all this, the exquisite Mediterranean gastronomy and the broad array of restaurants with international cuisine, the countless bars and discotheques, the intense colour and local ambience of its fiestas and popular traditions, ranging from the dramatic Easter processions to the most pagan and enigmatic folklore, provide endless leisure alternatives.

The destination also offers fun for all the family at its numerous water, theme and attractions parks, a limitless array of shopping centres and exclusive boutiques and a strategic location for visiting other cities of Andalusia, all of which combine to make the province of Málaga and its Costa del Sol, the perfect destination not only for those wanting to spend their vacations here but also for those who wish, for example, to learn Spanish or simply enjoy the outstanding quality of life in this truly unique province.
